Our Wedding Stationery: Part 1

It's wedding season for us here at Prickly Pear Paper!
We are getting married in October in Palm Springs! It's a perfect halfway point between our roots in Arizona & California and a place with all the dreamy desert vibes we love.
Six months before our big day, we knew we had to get the design and printing done for our save the dates and had to make them something we would never forget!
So here's a behind the scenes look at our finished save the dates & how we made them:

Mark designed this special "Palm Springs" pattern as a tribute to some of our favorite things about the desert - sunshine, cacti, and of course...drinks by the pool. The pattern also hints as some things to come for those invited...but we won't be revealing all the surprises just yet!
We really love the look and design of vintage hotel signs, especially neon signs, and so that's what inspired the front design and the pattern was a special surprise on the back of each card.
Mixing the colors for the cards had to be a special process. The colors of our wedding are a mix of cranberry, burgundy, & wine. But it's a difficult one to pin point when you don't want it to be too red or too pink. We found the perfect mixture in our Pantone book and love the way the colors turned out! It's not your typical tropical "Palm Springs" color scheme but we're going for something that matches all the beautiful bougainvillea flowers at our venue.
We knew we had to have letterpress save the dates and invitations for our wedding. It is something we believe truly adds value to paper goods and since we have already printed others' wedding invitations...it made it that more special while we printed our own.
For calligraphy, I have always dreamt of working with Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete. Her calligraphy style fits ours so perfectly and we got sooo many compliments on the envelopes alone! She does insanely beautiful work! Follow her on Instagram here.
So here they are - front side, back side, & envelopes.
We loved designing and printing these especially for our own wedding!
